At Seawind Meadows, we believe the best Highland breeding stock performs strongly in conformation, structural movement, and docile dispositions.

All heifers are led on halters and socialized by youth during calf-hood. Multiple Seawind heifers are proudly owned by youth and exhibited across America at various 4H, youth, jackpot, multibreed, and Highland expositions.

Looking for a quality full-blood Shorthorn? Harmony Northern Jewel was a 4H heifer project from a local 4Her and an easy keeper.

Why do we raise Shorthorn cattle at Seawind? While we specialize in Highlands, we keep a couple of Shorthorns in our breeding program as pasture safety nets. You cannot predict when a problem will strike on the farm and a cow will be unable to feed their newborn calf. Our Shorthorns produce high quantities of milk for their calves with milk to spare..and they share!

We love our Highlands' strong maternal instinct to take care of their babies, we do not have to worry about predators approaching calves and they will only feed their calf. So if a calving problem strikes the farm, we know our Shorthorns will set up and be there to feed a hungry calf preventing the need for time-intensive bottle feeding.

Jewel is ASA registered, so if you breed her to an AHCA registered bull the calf can be double registered with the American Highland Cattle Association as a Sovereign and with the American Shorthorn Registry as a Shorthorn+.
